Every once in awhile, I log on to my computer I get one of these awesome surprises! My kids take millions of pictures on my computer....or my iphone for that matter. I honestly had 100 pictures of High School Musical (playing on the T.V.) on my phone the other night. I can tell this week is going to be good already! Check out Ryders rockin' belly shirt. Looks like I need to sort through clothing tomorrow!

Apparently the Delgrosso sisters are as ridiculously talented as they are beautiful! Afton lives in Las Vegas, and dances in Le Reve, a Cirque du Soleil show at the Winn Hotel in Las Vegas. Between her two shows a day, working as a captain in the show, she finds time to go to school, and even manages to have a boyfriend (and save the world on her day off)! She is captivating, kind, and bright, so of course we fell in love with her instantly! She was so fun to shoot. I was blown away by the images straight out of the camera. That gorgeous white dress was the dress her mom was married in. It was perfection! THANK YOU AFTON!! Look for her next month on Dancing with the Stars!!

I know!!....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I ended up with so many great shots, it took me hours to pick out the ones I LOVED. The other night I went to the studio and watched the dancers, for a project I'm working on and I was mesmerized. My husband was calling my phone off the hook, and I didn't even notice! MAGICAL! I asked them how they learn to be so engaged with each other, because it is soooo believable. They said that they don't really work on "that." So unfortunately it is still the secret recipe we are all looking for as photographers. THANK YOU SO MUCH HEFA and AVERIE! You two are so great and I love working with you! I heart Center Stage!

Congrats Ricka! I'm excited to meet you! I know you are somewhere in Hawaii and I will be there in April. Would you e-mail me and let me know, what island you are on and if you want me to fit your shoot in on this trip or the next (email@example.com). Sila, Haven, and I recorded the name pull, so ya'll would know that we run a legit contest! No funny business! We couldn't get it to upload. I will keep working on it. Haven thinks it's a bit dull to just pull one name, so I let her pick the runner up's again.2nd place -RINA
3rd place - Malia
4th place -Maka
so sorry no prizes, but WOW you were almost there! THANK YOU for all the participation. I loved how many of you commented for the first time, and the hundredth time, don't make it your last. HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Most of the year I honestly ask myself: Why under God's green earth... do I live in Utah?? It's either too cold or too hot 70% of the time. Then Spring arrives and I give high praise and hallelujah to the beehive state. We spent nearly all day outside, even caught some of the neighborhood girls enjoying the spring as much as we were.

More of KD's portfolio, using my sister Emma as a model. Quite a lovely Japanese isn't she! My very own Devon Aoki.
“There is only one way to learn, it’s through action." -The Alchemist. Today I spent my morning with friends, ate some amazing Indian curry, and even learned a few things about photography. If there is something you want, start by doing one single thing, that will get you one small step closer to your dream. Soon enough you will be 49,999 things closer. I hit my 50,000 visits sometime today. I'm giving away a FAMILY SESSION! Comment on this blog, one comment per family please. The give away will be open until FRIDAY the 20th! If you are not a UTAH resident (local or other wise) enter anyway, I will be in your area someday or you can come to Utah sometime...it's a nice place! It also makes a lovely gift for all you camera shy out there. My girl will pick the winner from the comments on FRIDAY at noon! GOOD LUCK! and thank you again for all the support!

I spent 8 hours in the E.R. with my son last night. His stomach pain complaints prompted me to take him to the insta-care clinic. They sent me directly to the Hospital, fearing appendicitis. We got checked in, and the wait began. We talked to a Doctor, and waited. We moved from the waiting room, to the sectionals and waited. It went on and on: X-rays, CAT scans, lab tests...all intermingled with long hours of waiting, and short visits from Doctors. As we sat in the fabric partitioned patient area, blinded by colorful drapes, I could hear all the intimate details and worries of the strangers surrounding us. With my back to the curtain, I overheard the doctor explaining two options existed for one such faceless family. Their five year old girl had stepped on a hypodermic needle while playing at the park. The parents were worried about the unknown. They brought the needle in to be tested. OPTION ONE: WAIT. There was nothing to be done for HEP C. HIV/AIDS has only a small chance of developing from an infected needle. A very small possibility existed, but still a possibility. OPTION TWO: A preventive, anti-viral treatments exists for HIV. Side effects of this treatment would wreck havoc on the young girls body: suppressed immune system, hair, bone density, bone marrow loss, nausea, vomiting, etc., all on a very small chance of transmission. I stopped breathing. The doctor excused himself. Life changing decisions were made. My life moved on. I cried for that family on my way home... or maybe I cried for myself. Cried that I was so lucky to be on the other side of the fabric curtain. We were out of the hospital, on our way home. My son, although not 100%, was O.K., and I could sleep knowing he is only going to get better. I was going home to my husband and family. Life as usual continued.
Earlier this week, a neighborhood friend I went to High School with lost her husband. Children my kids play with lost their father. Our lives are separated by just one house. I cried.

Crystal is a big deal! She'd never say that...BUT I would, so anyway... CRYSTAL is a BIG DEAL! Sila and I asked her to sing for us while we were shooting. Her microphone was not plugged in, but I had to double check, because her voice was so incredible! Man oh man, do I love a great voice. Seriously, I think there was some glitch in the talent doling process. I could swear I was MEANT to sing. I feel it, and feel it, but it just doesn't come out the way I heard it in my head. It's okay I only cry about it every once in awhile now-a-dayz. Crystal filled us in on this labor of love of hers, and we talked as much as we shot. It's a wonder we got anything done!
Crystal's sister came for moral support. They have such a special relationship. You know..the "sisters and best friends" thing. We have our next shoot set up for the both of them in the NEARISH future. RIGHT GIRLS?! (wink, wink). Thank you Crystal for inviting me to work with you. I didn't mention it, but Crystal is also a photographer for Swenensen Photography, so it was a double compliment to me that she asked me to help her with her marketing package. Keep a look out for this one everyone! I will let you know when the album releases! GOOD LUCK SIS!
