She Who Believes in Herself....

Last night we received a handful of surprise visits from a few of our favorite people. Everyone has such busy lives, that I feel so grateful when this happens. One set of friends brought us In-and-Out. Love those Hafoka's. Nick's brother Liu stopped by and helped us pick up the house. We had Old Skool blasting on the house intercom, and The Goonies on the T.V. I prefer music when I clean. Nick likes the T.V., so yes..we make compromises. Our last visitor is a best friend of mine from years and years. She is amazing in so many ways. As soon as she walks into the room, she makes everything funner and happier. I miss her, but because she is working on her Ph.D., has a full time job, and is busy living the single life, I am surprised she even has time to think of our little family...but she always does. Always bearing gifts, she brought me a piece of Suzy Toronto's Wacky Woman Art. I loved it! Only someone who loves and listens to me like a sister would read this and think of me! THANK YOU TEENA!!
Nick and I ended up talking until 3:00a.m. about everything going on in our lives. I feel so blessed to have a life surrounded by the miracle of friendship. Thank you Sepa, Kalani, Liu, Teena, and last but absolutely the most important...NICK! LOVE YOU ALL

P.S. Don't wait up.

YES, I am going to be in line for hours.
YES, the movie starts at midnight.
YES, I feel a little silly.
YES. I think it's worth it.
YES, I'm hopeful that it will be better than the first one.
YES, the Edward in my mind was heaps better looking than Rob P.
YES, I'm going to be sitting with my TEAM JACOB sister in laws.
YES, there is one who is not allowed to sit by me.
NO, I can't bring you Nick.
Yes, I still love you!
YES, I'm still slightly sick to my stomach.
NO, it won't stop me.

Weeks ago, I got a call from one of my dear friends. She was feeling uninspired, even frustrated, with herself and with her photography. So we decided that we needed an INTERVENTION.
We ALL go through bouts of self doubt. Sometimes I don't feel like the best mother that I know I need to be, or the best friend I want to be to my husband and my dear friends. Sometimes we run out of direction in our careers. Inspiration is so personal and so internal that technically you can't just "be" inspired, because you "want" inspiration. The wonderful part is we can change anything we don't like about our current situation in 0.01 seconds. I have found that what inspires me photographically inspires me personally and visa versa. I have no magic pill and I have no perfect solution, but I do know what inspires me. LEARNING. TALENT. LOVE. LOYALTY. FRIENDSHIP. PASSION. SERVICE. It's different for each of us, but as you do your best to allign you life with the things that bring you happiness, you will feel inspiration because you are being true to yourself, and what you were ment to do.
A few of my girls from around the Nation got together for a quick get a way to Park City, Utah. It wasn't all about photography, but it was ALL inspiring for me. We laughed, learned and cried...or maybe I was the only one who cried. We talked about being better mothers, wives, friends, and photographers. Thank you for allowing me to share my life with you. L.O.V.E. you SWITS!

Sometimes I catch them sneaking food out of the pantry. Sometimes I catch them with my make up..... Lookin' good boys!

Who needs Thanksgiving?

This is not the most beautifully executed picture, but it IS the most technically correct image of what our house looks like on most Sundays. The house is always full and the food is ALWAYS good. One of the biggest personal blessing in my life is that my family and Nick's family are close. I have the best in laws who love my family as much as my family loves them. Haven was doing "where's WALDO" with this picture.....when she realized she's not even in it. Truth be told I think there are at least 10 people behind me. That's how we roll!

My bro Keli, working the dirty rocker biker look...the pants were a little PG-13 so I had to crop, but think...purple leopard print...and the opposite of loose.
Christy "the Queen of Halloween." The genius behind the party planning, and co-conspirator on the food project.
Mr. David Smith, my brothers best friend (since......he walked by our house in 3rd grade which resulted in a crush, the crush, not my brother,) working the dirty slasher rocker..with the ROCKSTAR drink shirt adding the mark of true authenticity.
The Farnsworth's pulling off the "Grateful Dead" as only a TIMPVIEW graduate could.

Christy's brother Aaron working the Ted Nugent. I have to say I don't know much about Ted Nugent, but apparently he did a good job, since everyone guessed right.
Marci as the HOT MESS Courtney Love circa 1999. DEAD RINGER! Haven keeps asking me what's in your mouth Marci. I told her it was your straw. Good thing she hasn't zoned in on the hypodermic needle in your arm. Harder to explain that one.
Carrie, working the classic girl rock diva!
T and Josh, my brothers other best friends, channelling Brit and K-fed post meds, post marriage, pre melt down and divorce. THE GOOD DAYS.
And of course Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley in the house. I may not be able to do a lot of things, but I can work the face paint. R.I.P. Halloween 2009, until next year!

Mr. and Mrs. Hafoka

There is a bit of an inside joke in the blog title! LOL! I will laugh by myself, and maybe with two or three more people. Two of my favorite people in the whole world!! Love you both!

Today I miss you!!

The last month has been so full of ups and downs. My baby sister left for her LDS mission, only two weeks ago, but it already feels like two months. I'm so proud of who she has become. From the time she was a baby she would follow around the house as my shadow. I keep reaching for my phone to send her a text and see if she wants to come over and watch a movie with me. I Love you Emi! Know that I'm thinking of you tonight!

Back to work!

I was just getting ready to dig into some serious work and thought I'd post my favorite image of Mr. Tyler Benson. It's so Supermanesque, don't you think? Not at all Uncle Rico. It's pretty tough to take the camera on like that with out serious professional training. Alright now back to work!

NO ONE does Halloween like my brother and his wife. They go ALL out every year. I am ashamed to say that Nick and I have never gotten into the Halloween spirit and after years of convincing my sister in law Christy finally got us to join the party. She comes up with themes every year and gives everyone plenty of time to figure out their costumes for her party. This year it was "ROCK STARS." She and my brother spend months working on the menu. It's honestly a bigger production that Christmas around here. We ended up hosting the party at our house. I'm pretty sure it was to make sure Nick and I actually showed up. Anyway, it was so much fun. The food was UNREAL, all made from scratch. We had the best night ever! I will post more costumes pictures tomorrow! Here is a few details of the amazing food. WAY TO GO CHRIS AND KELI!
